It was the Middle Ages in Transylvania. One man came into possession of an evil power, and the Prince of Darkness was born. Before long, this being had used his newfound supernatural powers and the magic powers of his followers to spread his plague of darkness and despair throughout the European continent. He was Count Dracula. Even the mention of the name of this Prince of Darkness was to cast fear into the hearts of the people of the land, who were powerless to do anything save voice their concern. However, at about the same time a baby girl possessing special powers was born to a family living in a remote area of the ountry. "Your powers are meant for a higher purpose and not only yourself," she was often reminded as she was growing up. The plot of this girl's fate began to develop one night in her seventeenth year when she met up with the young enigmatic Alucard, who was on a journey to search for the father that had deserted him. The young girl's name was Sonia Belmont, and she was the first of the vampire hunters in the Belmont family to become legendary. ((taken from the game manual. After she defeated Dracula, Sonia and Adrian, who were now married, decided to start a family. They had one son Trevor, but their happiness did not last. She feared Adrian would take his violent moods out on Trevor and she also feared what would happen if the secret of Trevor's parentage became public knowledge. In short, she felt she had to choose between her husband and her son. She choose her son and they left Adrian. She always planned on returning to Adrian at some point. However, Adrian, feeling abandoned, went into a deep sleep, reviving just in time to help his grown-up son fight Dracula. Adrian never let on that he was Trevor's father as Sonia had always told Trevor his father was a normal human who died years ago.

Sonia trained her son to be a vampire hunter. His quarter vampire heritage had given him super human strength and many of Sonia's abilities passed on as well. She continued to slay vampires and hunt other monsters. While she was on one of these missions, she was teleported from Transylvania and wound up in the Nexus.

At first thrilled to see Adrian once more, she was crushed to find out he had found other loves. Initially she refused to accept this and was consumed by jealously for awhile. She also had trouble grasping the idea of alternate realities and that this Adrian may not have been hers. Eventually, Adrian made her realize their marriage was over and she agreed to a divorce. She is disappointed in Adrian and some of the choices he has made, especially concerning his treatment of the powerful Djinn, Jeannie. Sonia took her away from Adrian and is now her Mistress.

Jeannie can send Sonia back and forth between now and the fifteenth century. Her village is relatively peaceful and she'd prefer to raise Trevor there. She comes back here because she feels she is strongly needed (with all the vampires and other monsters in the nexus.), especially since Dracula, now going by the name Alucard is also in the Nexus.

Abilities:(somewhat adapted from the game)
Can jump exceptionally high
Stronger than a normal human
As fast as a vampire

Magic:(ditto)
Can send a powerful wind against one foe, knocking him back quite a distance.
Can cast a wave of flame, engulfing all but the most powerful of her foes. Or she can
really concentrate and just set one enemy on fire.
Can destroy an enemy instantly, but not anything too powerful.
Can heal herself, even if the injury is mortal.
Can make herself briefly invulnerable.

Her magic is very finite and once she runs out, it takes quite some time for it to recharge.

Weapons:
The Whip: the Belmont weapon of choice and Sonia is an expert in wielding it. Like all her weapons, it is blessed and counts as holy item.

Daggers: She has many silver daggers and is quite good at close range combat.

Axes: She also has several silver throwing axes for when wants to keep her distance.

Pocket Watch: not a weapon, but when she pulls the stopper, she can freeze time for everyone but her. This doesn't last for very long and she can't affect other people during the freeze time, either.

She is also starting to modernize and is learning how to shoot with guns.

Flaws:

She has a temper and is prone to jealousy, which can cause her to make some very rash decisions. Can be very stubborn. Due to her special powers, she grew up rather isolated and never really had friends. As a result, she often won't ask for help, even if she needs it. She hates to show emotion, with the exception of anger. Often suspects people are plotting against her.
